BRIAN
REGAN is one of the best comedians performing today. His comedy,
big enough for everyone, sharp enough for you, keeps audiences
coming back time and again to see what's new in the comedy world
of Brian Regan.
As
a kid, Regan was a huge fan of Johnny Carson but his fascination
with stand-up comedy really kicked in when Steve Martin came on
the scene. It was Martin's silly, but smart comedic genius that
inspired Regan.
At
Heilderberg College in Tiffin, Ohio, he began to dream of becoming
a comedian. As a freshman, having fallen so far behind in his
major - accounting - that he knew he could never catch up, Regan
went to his football coach for advice. Knowing Regan was kind
of funny, the coach recommended the Communication and Theater
Arts Department. It was within this world that Regan began his
quest for a career in comedy. from speech class to plays, Regan
developed his love for performing and getting laughs.
In
the early 80's, when the Heidelberg years were done, Regan started
performing at a small comedy club in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida,
an hour's drive from his hometown of Miami. He wasn't just the
opening entertainment, he was a busboy, dishwasher and cook too.
Often times, Regan had to wrap up his shows to flip burgers for
the people in the crowd. Over two and half years Regan actually
became a better comic than a cook. It was time to hit the road.
After
traveling the country for a few years, Regan moved to New York
City, where he lived from 1986 to 1994. Although he continued
to tour, things really started to take off when he won the K-Rock-Miller
Lite Funniest Person in New York contest in 1989. Regan moved
to headliner status and began nailing down national TV appearances
like MTV Half Hour Comedy Hour, Pat Sajak, Arsenio Hall,
and The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson. By the early 90's,
Regan had developed into one of the best stand up comedians in
the country.
Since
then, Regan's work has included his own specials on Showtime and
Comedy Central, Coca Cola's Concession Stand Up Comedy in movie
theaters throughout the country, regular appearances on Conan
O'Brien and the Late Show with David Letterman, and opening
regularly for Jerry Seinfeld.
