| A comic who worries about his career all the time? You're kidding,
right? Not when you're dealing with BRUCE SMIRNOFF.
His critically acclaimed, award-winning one-man show Other
Than My Health, I Have Nothing… And Today I Don't Feel So Good was a smash success. And guess what? It deals with all his show
business misfortunes.
Imagine this opportunity of a lifetime: Johnny Carson makes
a rare appearance at the Hollywood Improv. Owner Bud Friedman
decides to put Bruce on for Johnny to discover. Bruce is spectacular
for two minutes until a drunken, drugged-out heckler (the son
of Bruce's agent) interrupts and destroys Smirnoff's confidence
and performance. Bruce leaves the stage defeated in front of
the talk-show icon.
A little later, after Johnny has a few too many, Budd makes
Bruce drive him home, only to encounter further disaster upon
arriving at Carson's Bel Air mansion.
Fortunately, or unfortunately, Bruce has dozens of these stories,
many with show biz icons, all true, hysterical and so unbelievable
that they're… believable.
All of these stories were combined into his show, which ran
two years in Los Angeles, and made stops in Toronto, New York,
Cleveland, and Kansas City.
In 1996, the show was received with a standing ovation at the
Montreal Comedy Festival. In 1999 Bruce won the prestigious
ADA Award in Los Angeles.
In January of 2001, Bruce fulfilled his dream, to live in New
York City. After two winters, the dream was over! Bruce now
lives in Miami Beach, Florida.
